Kennedi Christine has always loved to dance, but hip-hop has been her comfort zone-until now. When her dad's friend, Ms. Ayanna, invites her to try majorette dance, Kennedi isn't sure she has what it takes. The sharp kicks, powerful movements, and high-energy routines look exciting but intimidating. More than that, she doesn't know most of the girls in the class, and the thought of stepping into a whole new dance style makes her nervous.
At first, Kennedi struggles to keep up, and self-doubt creeps in. But with encouragement from her teacher, the guidance of an older dancer, and her own determination, Kennedi starts to find her rhythm-and her confidence. She learns that majorette dance isn't just about movement; it's a celebration of Black culture and history, deeply rooted in the performances of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
