Review Quotes:
"A riveting futuristic tale of global ruin and rescue...In this post-apocalyptic tale, a fierce woman sets out to rescue her kidnapped sister and exact revenge...Stewart constructs a chilling, barren world and suspensefully chronicles Deirdre's mission...This is a thoroughly absorbing book, one filled with thrilling action and psychologically subtle character portrayal."-Kirkus Reviews
"Stewart's text benefits from meticulous description which effectively transmits the atmosphere and personality of his characters and setting. His incredible attention to detail emphasizes the desolate imagery of a crumbling Southern California landscape as well as the characters' unique character traits and idiosyncrasies."-BookLife Prize
"An exhilarating story of love and family...The ubiquity of black-powder guns, horses, and outlaws gives this future-set novel the intriguing flavor of a Western, as do its gritty scenes of graphic violence: bullets are shot through eyes, bones are broken, and wounds heal over time if at all. Meanwhile, people's relationships evolve in unexpected ways; all are complex."-Foreword Clarion Reviews
"Just like he did with Xena: Warrior Princess, RJ Stewart has built an amazing world and filled it with bad-ass characters. Crazy Hawk: A Post-Apocalyptic Thriller had me on the edge of my seat, following Deirdre and Jube on their adventures. Every page reveals a surprise about what our world has become in RJ's vivid imagining of a possible future. Please, please, let there be a sequel! I'm not ready to be done with these characters or their world." Liz Friedman, Emmy nominated writer of Orange is the New Black, The Good Doctor and House.
