Sept 5, 2024 Braving Therapy was written beautifully with good sequence and flow. I never wanted to put it down. I loved the inclusion of the therapist's notes. The author's honesty was touching, she really put herself out there. JS
Sept 29, 2024 This book is a great must read, especially for anyone who has thought of seeking professional counseling but struggle with gaining the courage to take that initial action step of meeting with a licensed councilor. The author does an exceptional job of sharing all the emotional aspects of the initial trauma of rape, the attempt to bury the event, experiencing PTSD, depression, the detailed journey of therapy, and the eventual healing & recovery. Most compelling is her desire and determination to stay the course of therapy while dealing with the demands of husband, children, career, and life in general. It is a fascinating read of success and encouragement that many can benefit from. DH
Oct 9, 2024 I have been moved to tears by more than one passage...I was expecting a difficult personal narrative, and of course it's all of that, but I wasn't prepared for such a compelling narrative, brilliantly structured and dramatically told. Is there such a thing as a non-fiction page-turner that hooks the reader as thoroughly as a popular novel? Yes there is, and L. Feig Knipe has written it. MN
Sept 25, 2024 This book is a compelling must read! L Feig Knipe had the courage to share her very personal story in an effort to help others feel what it's like to enter into therapy and what a true lifesaver it is. There is a passage to resonate with everyone. From the moment you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down. JAZ
Oct 5, 2024 In this emotionally gut wrenching raw memoir, the author is proof that even after suffering heartbreaking loss and traumatic events it is possible to see the light again if you want to put in the work. It's a story to remind us all that you can't overstuff your junk closet of emotions and to teach those with PTSD that it won't go away on its own but with help it is possible to overcome.
If you or anyone you know is depressed or suffering PTSD this is a must read and it will give you hope and help. AMD
