Description: Dade Battlefield State Park, located north of Tampa, FL, commemorates the events of December 28, 1835, when Seminole Indians attacked Federal soldiers. The massacre started the Second Seminole Wars. What happened? How are different perspectives relevant to understanding why this happened? Students will read primary source narratives and use critical thinking strategies to better understand the imprtance of these events in history and how they are relevant today.
