Description: This book contains 14 stories of archaeological discoveries that changed our understanding of ancient Roman culture, but you've likely never heard of any of them.
Brief description: Alan Kaiser is a Professor of Archaeology at the University of Evansville. He is a Roman archaeologist with decades of experience in archaeology and teaching at the college level. He has worked on projects in Spain, Greece, Israel, England, and the site of Pompeii. His career has been devoted to both the study of Roman urbanism and the history of archaeology. Kaiser's first two books, The Urban Dialogue and Roman Urban Street Networks, in addition to his numerous scholarly articles have explored how the Romans laid out cities, analysis made possible by sophisticated computer technology he uses to make sense of data from his fieldwork.
