Description:
The Didache: A Modern English Translation
The Didache, or Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, is often presented as a valuable witness to early Christianity. Yet when examined closely, it raises important questions about continuity, clarity, and the preservation of apostolic teaching.
This edition presents a faithful modern English translation of the Didache, carefully rendered to preserve the structure, language, and tone of the original text, without paraphrase, expansion, or doctrinal smoothing.
Within these pages, readers will encounter:
- A precise and unaltered translation of the Didache
- The full text presented with clarity and consistency
- A rendering that preserves grammatical detail and rhetorical force
- A direct view of early Christian instruction in its original form
Unlike many editions that interpret or harmonize the text, this translation allows the Didache to speak for itself. Readers are invited to examine its teachings, compare them with the apostolic writings, and consider what it reveals about the early trajectory of Christian communities.
This is not merely a historical document, it is a text that demands careful evaluation.
