Descriptions, Reviews, etc.

Description: This is the first comprehensive overview on Iron Age urbanism south and north of the Alps.

Brief description: Lorenzo Zamboni is Adjunct Professor at the University of Pavia, where he obtained his PhD in Archaeology with research on Spina. Since 2012 he has been co-director of the archaeological excavations at Iron Age Verucchio. His research covers a wide range of settlement, material, funerary, and theoretical aspects mainly concerning the human presence in Northern and Central Italy between the Final Bronze Age and the Roman period.

Review Quotes: "Crossing the Alps offers 26 well-illustrated contributions on urbanism north and (especially) south of the Alps between 900 and 400 BC... Thus a mixture of the theoretical and methodological, well-known and lesser-known sites, regional overviews, comparisons and contrasts, addressing the multiple and non-linear pathways to urbanization."-- "Ancient West & East, Vol. 22, 2023"
