THREE

different realities, in which three generations of keepers have to grow wiser in order to comprehend the mystery of the keys and put an end to the curse that pursues them through time and space.

The Scarecrow's Keys presents the reader with a powerful modern myth, rooted in the natural world, which dismantles the classical Western dualism and hints at a third alternative to face the challenges of the 21st century. In this story, fantasy, pseudomedieval romance and gothic horror converge in an innovative "equilibrium", directly related to the figure of the Scarecrow.

Simonson and Gilete engage the reader in a revolutionary literary game which completely breaks with the usual expectations of the genre. Antonio Ballesteros (Professor of English philology and a major international expert on the gothic novel) has said of the book that "it is without doubt an event for lovers of the best kind of fantasy literature... a happy dioscovery," while for Douglas A. Anderson (world-leading authority on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and modern fantasy), the book is "very well writtten and really entertaining".
