Description: "'Everything is ephemeral and never repeats,' states Josâe Emilio Pacheco, reminding us of the brevity of our time on Earth. We assume that'"the sea will have turned to desert / when we are no longer here to see and love it,' but we forget that this fleeting condition is what gives existence its extraordinary hue: 'everything is valuable because everything is unrepeatable'"

Brief description:

José Emilio Pacheco (Mexico City, 1939-2014) published his first short stories in La sangre de Medusa, a book that was followed by El viento distante and El principio del placer. His narrative work includes Morirás lejos and Las batallas en el desierto, a long-selling book since its release.

His poetic work, which began with Los elementos de la noche y El reposo del fuego, is unparalleled and already includes fourteen collections of poems collected in two anthologies.

His work as an essayist is also outstanding, in particular in "Inventario", a column published over four decades in which the literary and the journalistic converge, fundamental to understanding the culture of Mexico and the world.
