Description: The exponential acceleration of the miniaturisation and processing capabilities of computers, together with an ever-widening extension of the network that connects computers around the world have generated new issues for lawmakers and legal science: net neutrality, protection against growing and pervasive cybercrime and, as part of the so-called '4th Industrial Revolution', increasing use of artificial intelligence, whereas data protection is facing the development of mass surveillance tools. The idea of the SIPE Congress, whose proceedings are published here, was for lawyers to study and, as far as possible, discuss these new developments by going beyond but without neglecting the novelties of data protection law. This book's chapters are grouped according to scientific logic-without interference from organisational constraints, as is often the case in symposia-according to three topic areas: the renewal of fundamental legal issues surrounding information and communications technology (ICT), administrative law of new ICT and operations using algorithms.
