Descriptions, Reviews, etc.

Description: When, around 64 BC, the Romans drove out the last king of Pontos, they turned parts of his domains into a Roman province. The interior was, however, not ready for annexation, and a city-state culture was introduced, including the foundation of seven new cities in an area previously characterised by fortresses and temple states.

Brief description: Soren Lund Sorensen (1983) studied Classics (MA) at the University of Copenhagen, Jewish Studies (MSt) at the University of Oxford and received his PhD in ancient history from the University of Southern Denmark (2015). He is currently a research assistant at the Freie Universitat Berlin. Research interests include: Ancient Judaism, Anatolia and Semitic languages.
