Description: With the synodal resolution on the renewal of the relationship between Christians and Jews of the Protestant Church in the Rhineland in 1980, for the first time a Protestant regional Church in Germany anchored the Christian-Jewish relationship and the Christian-Jewish dialogue both ecclesiologically and structurally in its own self-understanding. Since then, most of the regional Churches within the EKD as well as the EKD itself have followed this path. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Rhenish Synodal Resolution, this volume contains contributions on the development and significance of Jewish-Christian relations and dialogue up to the present day. Authors bring together insights from biblical exegesis, Jewish studies, contemporary Church history, systematic theology, religious education and Church practice.
