Description: If the global economic and financial crisis is omnipresent in the daily news and debates, the global and territorial geography of the financial system is still very little studied despite the fact that the very essence of globalisation is a geographical phenomenon. The objective of this work is therefore to present real knowledge about the procedures and actors at work in modern economies and companies as well as a conceptual and methodological tool box specific to geography. Because the financial system, far from being "deterritorialised", is in fact firmly anchored in the social, cultural, economic and geopolitical realities that organise global space. After having dealt with the questions of production, mobilisation and circulation of wealth this manual analyses the emergence and then the crisis of the regime of financial accumulation that appeared in 1975-1980 by examining its structures and workings. Next to be dealt with are the major actors (banks, insurance companies, pension funds, shadow banking, sovereign wealth funds....) the main financial markets (currencies, equities, debt, commodities....) and their specific territories. Finally the author discusses the political and geopolitical issues of finance and the questions of governance.
