Description:
Someone is delivering plates of scrumptious Nanaimo bars to every house in Nanaimo, and the people who eat them are behaving very strangely. Can two kids stop the alien creature behind the plot before the Nanaimoites' IQs are lost forever?
Brief description: Arthur Slade was raised in the Cypress Hills of southwest Saskatchewan (on a ranch). He wasn't raised by wolves. It was elves. And one grumpy dwarf. He began writing at an early age. It took a few years but he is now the author of more than thirty novels, including Dust (which won the Governor General's award), Dragon Assassin, and The Hunchback Assignments. He currently lives in the mythical city of Saskatoon and does all of his writing on a treadmill desk while he listens to heavy metal. Really. It's true.
Review Quotes:
"There is far more hilarity than horror in this imaginative tale, which sets a far-fetched plot complete with aliens, robots, and monsters in the real-life city of Nanaimo. . . . There is lots of action, chases, and suspense as the mystery is uncovered and the story resolves happily for all concerned. The situations are hilarious, the description is great, and the dialogue and characters are amusing. This is an imaginative, informative, and entertaining chapter book for young readers. Recommended." - Deborah Dowson, Canadian Book Review Annual
"Invasion of the IQ Snatchers is a page-turning story that . . . will have young readers wanting to read more books in this series! Highly recommended." - Tanya Boudreau, CM: Canadian Review of Materials
