Description:

The Mabinogion is a mesmerising panorama of fantasy, romance, tragedy, and humor that were compiled in Middle Welsh during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries.

Blending Arthurian romance, Welsh legend, and mythology, it tells tales of heroic knights, fair maidens, dramatic battles, and magical beasts in twelve fantastical stories. These comprise the 'Three Welsh Romances', Arthurian tales that also appear in the work of Chrétien de Troyes; the myths of Branwen, Pwyll Manawydan, and Math; and the five "native tales," which include a romance about the Roman emperor Magnus Maximus.

It continues to inspire writers today and is said to have influenced Alan Garner's The Owl Service and J. R. R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion.

Matt Addis is a highly regarded audiobook narrator, and has voiced a wealth of work. His unabridged recording of The Stone Man was nominated by Audible as one of twelve finalists for Audiobook of the Year 2015, among such august company as Stephen Fry reading Harry Potter and Maggie Gyllenhaal reading The Bell Jar.

Review Quotes:

"The Mabinogion is famously magical. Enchantment glows on every page, but it does not here violate the laws of nature: it reveals them."
