Brief description: Luce López-Baralt earned her Ph.D. at Harvard University. She is Distinguished Professor and Professor Emerita of Spanish and Comparative Literatures at the University of Puerto Rico. She has been awarded the Guggenheim, Fulbright, Erasmus, National Endowment for the Humanities, and American Council for Learned Societies Fellowships; the Royal Order of Isabel la Católica (awarded by King Philip VI of Spain), the Premio Internacional Henríquez Ureña (México), the Ibn Arabi Prize (Murcia, Spain), the Premio Nacional de las Letras Teresa de Ávila (Spain). She is vicepresident of the Academia Puertorriqueña de la Lengua Española. Her 30 books and more than 300 articles on comparative Spanish and Arabic literatures and mysticism, aljamiado-moorish and Latin American literatures have been published in Spanish (Un kama-sutra español, Vaso Roto Ediciones), English, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Croatian, Arabic, Dutch, Persian, Chinese, Urdu and Turkish.
