At the turn of the millennium, Julia decides to make a change and pursue her passion for freelance photography and writing. Her first assignment takes her to Florence, where she reconnects with Robert, a former boyfriend.
Things take a dark turn, however, when she unwittingly becomes entangled in a dangerous underground world of sex trafficking and violence.

Julia's search for answers leads her to become involved with police officer Nic Rossi, who is investigating the trafficking ring in the wake of his wife's disappearance.
