Brief description: Susan P. Ryan is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She spent her career in the medical field, the last twenty-five years as a Heart Valve Specialist for Medtronic. After an early retirement, she received her MFA in Writing from Spalding University and decided to share her experience of enjoying a full life despite living with the number two cause of disability-chronic migraine. With optimism and humor, Susan shares what she has learned through oh-so-many trials, with the hope that it may lessen the load for others. Susan lives in the Mitten State beside Lake Michigan with a sixty-two pound naughty companion, Vinny Van Poodle. Her essay "Proper Equipment" was awarded first prize for nonfiction sports writing and was published in winningwriters.com.
