Description:
The rebel princess and a mage who fought against her band together to find true justice--if they aren't ensnared first by treacherous advisors, old comrades out for blood, or--worst of all--their own feelings.
Brief description: Anna Holmes has been making up stories since she was too young to spell. She has held many strange jobs, including teaching high schoolers how to outwit the SAT, polishing boots and lacing corsets, and what a friend described once as "being a library elf". She lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest United States with her husband, two spoiled cats, and an even-more-spoiled dog.
Review Quotes:
"This is a great book for young girls finding their way in the world, or just about anyone really. It can be called a princess story, but it deals with the darker aspects of royalty: war, slavery, prejudice, diplomacy, how to thwart an assassination, strategizing on the fly, and properly arming oneself - for battle, stealth, or a contest of wits. The author uses mythical beasts and magical limitations deftly, not too much or too little, instead focusing on the delicate politics of a continent healing from war, and the headstrong, fiery heroine that tries to pull it together. For fans of Neil Gaiman, Dungeons and Dragons, steampunk, Discworld, Garth Nix, and Harry Potter"

"I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy and adventure novels. The protagonist is a warrior princess who doesn't need rescuing, and the characters are both believable and likeable. The use of humor and suspense really makes it hard to put down. This is one of those books that sticks with you long after you finish it. I can't wait to read the sequel!"
