Description: You are one of a kind! That's the message of this sweet book, which focuses on self-worth and loving who you are.

Brief description: Author Misty Black enjoys picture books as much as her children do, if not more! Why? Because a good book can take you anywhere in the world! (No need to get out of bed!) Misty has been winning awards for writing since fifth grade. She enjoys reading, playing board games, gardening, and spending time with her husband and 3 children. She is secretly a part-time tooth fairy--and so her inspiration for My Mom the Fairy was born. When asked why she writes, she said, "Books should be fun and exciting. Children deserve to love reading, and I want to be a part of that."

"Ah, what adorable animals," will be a child's first reaction when opening the book Sloan the Sloth Loves Being Different. The cuddly, huggable forest creatures fill the pages with big eyes and colorful tones. Author Misty Black has created another wonderful story to add to her collection of entertaining picture books with a subtle message. Her newest book helps children to understand their strengths and weaknesses and to accept themselves as they are. This adventure book combines an interesting story and outstanding illustrations, with a hint of accepting yourself. An assortment of animals who each have a talent, but when they get together they have something in common--they love to laugh. Children will also get a glimpse of each animal's strengths--who can climb the fastest or who can get the most acorns in their mouths.

Sloan the Sloth Loves Being Different is a fun and wonderful animal adventure, which showcases several different animals that have become friends. Author Misty Black's book displays empathy and inclusion--qualities we'd like to see in children. Teachers will enjoy reading this book to students and parents will like sharing the lovable animals with their children. Teachers will also like the questions and activities at the back of the book. Illustrator Ana Rankovic takes us into the schoolyard with adorable animals with expressive eyes and faces. The artwork will draw children into the book, while the story will keep them entertained. School libraries, public libraries, and home libraries will benefit from having this book on the shelf. I highly recommend this schoolyard animal adventure and invite you to take home a new adorable, cuddly friend. What makes you different makes you special.
