Description: Unique study of 145 tablets, from an unknown site near Nippur in Southern Iraq. The tablets are the documents of a high official named Aradmu, and detail routine agricultural operations, including receipts and grain loans. The tablets were repatriated to Iraq in late 2010.
Brief description: Benjamin Studevent-Hickman received his Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (Sumerian and Akkadian Studies) from Harvard University in 2006. He subsequently served as Research Associate at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, and as Lecturer on Assyriology, at Harvard. He now teaches high school physics at St. Francis School, in Louisville, Kentucky, where he lives with his wife and son.
