The exercises in this activity book is designed for teachers/parents/guardians to lay a good foundation utilizing
a method no other program uses. Your children will be exposed to phonics in a most unusual and unique way
to start their journey in becoming good readers.
Brief description: I strongly believe that the Grassroots Phonics & Grammar method empowers a child to achieve his or her highest potential in reading, while at the same time building self-confidence. This method was inspired by the children that I worked with in the Cayman Islands Government primary schools to whom I gave speech therapy. After obtaining a Master of Science degree in both Speech & Language Pathology and Audiology from the School of Communication at Florida State University, I worked for a while in the Los Angeles Unified School District. In 1981 I came to the Cayman Islands with my husband and two children. I developed activity books suitable for classroom and homeschooling. I created videos and other materials to teach clear articulation of the speech sounds associated with letter-symbols. In 2012, I was awarded recognition as anEducation Pioneer in the Cayman Islands.. I am honored to have been a delegate, exhibitor and presenter of the Grassroots Phonics & Grammar method at the Word Literacy Summit in 2018 & 2025. My mission is to be a contributor in closing the enormous gap between poor readers & good readers.
