Description:

Nazarth, or The Pillars of Gladness, is a geomancer's psalter of calls in the language commonly called Enochian for invoking and directing the virtues and spirits of the sixteen figures of European Renaissance geomancy.

Brief description: Dr Alexander Cummins is a consultant, diviner, writer, contemporary cunning-man, and historian of magic. His magical specialities are the dead (folk necromancy), divination (geomancy) and the grimoires. Dr Cummins' published works include An Excellent Booke of the Arte of Magicke (Scarlet Imprint, 2020) with Phil Legard, The Starry Rubric: Seventeenth-century English Astrology and Magic (Hadean Press 2012), A Book of the Magi: Lore, Prayers, and Spellcraft of the Three Holy Kings (Revelore Press, 2018), as well as contributions to collections by Three Hands Press, Scarlet Imprint, and Hadean Press. He is a founding editor of Revelore Press' Folk Necromancy in Transmission series, and co-hosts the podcast Radio Free Golgotha.

Review Quotes:

'Beautifully forceful and moving, Dr. Cummins' "Nazarth" is an excellent achievement of seamlessly blending magic, poetry, and prayer in a hitherto unexplored realm of Enochiana.' -Sam Block, author at the Digital Ambler

'Nazarth is a poetic union of heaven and earth, the Enochian language and Geomancy, demonstrating elegantly how vital modern innovation is to the continuing practical evolution of the grimoire tradition.' -David Rankine

"Dr. Alexander Cummins' Nazarth aids us in becoming the hallowed vessels which pour forth "fonts of medicine as well as mystery". This geomancer's psalter of Angelical calls speaks from within the figures - a weaving of tongues and intrepid interpolation to conjure poetic power. A tool of the worshipful divine as much as a tool of the geomancer's Arte." -Sasha Ravitch

"We recommend enjoying the book and review like a glass of good wine, an expensive fruit, or a bite of fresh, still-warm bread: as an almost erotic phenomenon, one which reminds us of the common roots of magic and poetry - in the mother soil of our sensual experience." -Paralibrum

"This new offering from Al Cummins and Hadean Press, titled Nazarth, is a series of poems centered around geomantic images, but extended in more practical, magical, and mystical directions. Dr. Cummins does this using the "Angelical speech" recorded by Dr. John Dee in 1583 during his experiments with angelic communication. Thus he celebrates traditional geomancy alongside the Enochian revelations, merging and transforming them in important ways. I believe his approach can help harness the unfamiliar to induce subconscious vigilance, allowing us to experience the Wondrous by countering our tendency to go into auto-pilot mode when surrounded by the familiar." -Joseph H Peterson
