Description: Animating Liturgy invites you to consider the liturgical offering which stands at the heart of the Christian faith.

Brief description: Stephen Platten is an Assistant Bishop in the Dioceses of London, Southwark, and Newcastle, and chairman of Hymns Ancient & Modern and of the governors of the Anglican Centre in Rome. He was formerly the Archbishop of Canterbury's Secretary for Ecumenical Affairs, Dean of Norwich, and Bishop of Wakefield. Platten was a member of the Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England from 2006 to 2016 and Chair of the Church of England Liturgical Commission from 2004 to 2014. He is now Chaplain to St Martin-within-Ludgate, London.

Review Quotes:

The ten essays, all but one written between 2010 and 2012, testify to Bishop Stephen Platten's passion for liturgy which, through its shape, momentum and richness of language and symbol, makes a pattern capable of forming worshippers into the likeness of Christ. ... Platten's questing intellect and wide reading shine through this collection. Rational good sense and creative insight walk hand-in-hand, sometimes not quite in step, and unanswered questions remain. But the fact that they have been asked, and that liturgy, society and politics have been brought into animated conversation, is a service to Church and world.
