If you're coming from the first book batten the hatches. Brutal doesn't begin to cover Maia and Hunter's new reality. Both books in this series are incredibly well written leaving me wishing we could have our own Angel apocalypse. I could not recommend this series more!

The first book, We Are Not Angels, was an intriguing take on angels and the consequences of destroying our planet. We Are Not Broken is the epitome of the human will to fight. It dives pretty deep into how much one person can take, the fight for the freedom to choose for ourselves, and how far love can take you. I love that the change, the real thing that makes the biggest impact, is the simple act of kindness, of reaching out and being a friend. That's all it takes to create a turning point in a fight for peoples lives. Maia and Hunter are still an epic couple that can't keep their hands to themselves for five minutes. And it's pretty dang beautiful that their love is the one thing Maia has to cling to when the Protectorate capture them, whisk them across the universe, and dole out unnecessarily cruel punishment because Hunter defied their rule. Dying to see what gets thrown at them for the next book.
