Description: This interdisciplinary collection investigates the forms that authority assumed in nineteenth-century Ireland and their relations to international redefinitions of authority. Using new comparative perspectives and archival resources, it examines emerging types of politicians, clerics and professionals, and the extensions of their authority in visual, oral and print cultures.
