Having had epilepsy for 45 years I can appreciate the humor in that statement. You will notice that's epilepsy with a small E because we the E don't want to give the chronic seizures condition of the central nervous system more weight than it merits. Also, just the letter E because the word epilepsy can really be intimidating. We are the E people.
