Brief description: During her four decades as a registered nurse and midwife, Lisa Peberdy has lived and worked in nearly every Australian state and territory. Her career has included clinical, managerial, educational, academic and humanitarian roles that have taken her into some of the most remote locations in Australia. She has also worked in Greece, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste - not even a war zone fazes her enthusiasm to 'give it a go'.When home in Australia, Lisa lives in Brisbane with her husband Mark, enjoying their new role as first-time grandparents. A keen cyclist, you can often find her cruising along the Brisbane River cycleway on the weekends on a classic 'West End' bike, complete with a not-so-fancy recycled milkcrate for a basket.Between international humanitarian postings, Lisa now lectures in midwifery at The University of Queensland. She hopes to inspire the next generation of midwives to leave their comfort zone and grab every opportunity that comes their way.
