Brief description: Jen Alexander is a former primary school teacher and current translator and interpreter from Scotland. She studied Scandinavian languages at the University of Edinburgh. She works from Portuguese and Danish, and particularly enjoys translating creative and literary texts. She's a Chartered Institute of Linguists-certified translator of Portuguese and Danish into English and a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting-qualified interpreter. Jen has collaborated on English translation and editorial projects for Vernáculo, served as a Portuguese-English interpreter with the Fife Community Interpreting Service, and her literary translations include Caio Fernando Abreu's Garopaba Mon Amour (Manoa Journal, 2018) and Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen's "The Silence" (Dedalus, 2018). She lives near Edinburgh with her two children and slightly eccentric dog.
