Description:
Discover the wisdom of Padre Pio through 30 days of Catholic prayers and reflections on suffering, trust, and closeness to Christ.
Brief description:
Padre Pio (1887-1968) was a Capuchin priest known for bearing the stigmata--the five wounds of Christ crucified--making him the only priest in Catholic history officially recognized with this phenomenon. He was also associated with extraordinary spiritual gifts, including bilocation, prophecy, and both physical and spiritual healings. Renowned for his holiness and insight, he often spent up to sixteen hours a day hearing the confessions of pilgrims who traveled from around the world to see him.
On June 16, 2002, Padre Pio was canonized a saint by Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square, at what was reported to be one of the largest gatherings in the city's history.
Review Quotes:
"It is not uncommon for prayer to seem impossible. Let Padre Pio be your spiritual director! Pio was not only a spiritual master but a faithful priest, sought after for his deep devotion to being an instrument of Divine Mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. He knew suffering in his own mind, body, and soul and in his fellow traveling humans. This book is one for our day. The time is now to start praying, knowing it is often the greatest and most practical action we can take in the face of the overwhelming."
