Description: Prayaschita (The Penance) is the last of Fakir Mohan Senapati's four novels and the third and the last in his 'trilogy of crime and justice', to use the epithet coined by the eminent Senapati scholar John Boulton. Prayaschita was published in 1915, just three years before the death of the novelist.

Brief description: Snehaprava Das is an eminent poet and translator. She has translated several Odia classics including the first Odia novel Padmamali by Umesh Chandra Sarkar, the Odia novel Bibasini by Ramshankar Ray, and Pandit Gopabandhu Das's Kara Kabita and Bandira Atmakatha in English. She has also translated the short story collection Refrigerator re hajare dina of Manoj. Kumar Panda and Central Sahitya Academy winning novella Prapti of Paramita Satpathy in English. She has three poetry collections Dusk Diary, Alone and Other Poems and Songs of Solitude to her credit. She teaches English literature in various colleges of Odisha and lives in Bhubaneswar, India.
