Description: The Jewish people are still chosen, but for what?
What does it mean that the Jewish people are "chosen"? For many, the word evokes confusion, pride, resentment, or even hostility. In Chosen to Proclaim, Avi Snyder clarifies this often-misunderstood idea, showing from Scripture and history that God's irrevocable call upon Israel has always been missional: to be a light to the nations and to proclaim his salvation to the world.
Remarkably, even during times of unbelief, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob has used the Jewish people to draw gentiles to himself. And if he can use his people in their unbelief, how much more will he use them once they receive and share the gospel they were created to proclaim? In Chosen to Proclaim, Snyder challenges readers to recognize why the Jewish people are essential for the gospel to reach the ends of the earth.
Brief description: Avi Snyder currently serves as the European Ambassador of Jews for Jesus. He was raised in a conservative Jewish home in New York and New Jersey, and he came to a saving faith in Jesus in 1977 with the help of a Jews for Jesus tract and the forthright witness of Christian friends. He graduated from the School of World Mission at Fuller Theological Seminary with a master's degree in missiology. Avi has served with Jews for Jesus since 1978, providing leadership for branch offices in the US, the UK, the former USSR, Germany, and Hungary. He has authored several articles and tracts and written two other books: Jews Don't Need Jesus--and Other Misconceptions and Never Ashamed. He and his wife, Ruth, have three grown children.
Review Quotes:
Chosen to Proclaim is a much-needed book for these challenging times! Avi has intricately woven both the need and urgency for us to engage in speaking the truth of Jesus to all including the Lost Sheep of Israel. I highly recommend this book to you, your congregation, and all who wonder about evangelism in an age where it is less and less popular, but more and more needed. May the words of the apostle Paul be reflected in your life: "Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for them [Israel] is that they may be saved" (Romans 10:1).

Simple, compassionate, kerygmatic-just like the gospel. Logical, sharp, argumentative-just like the epistles. This powerfully proclaiming, sometimes combative, voice of a small, New York-born Jew is that of the apostle Paul-passionate in his love for his Jewish brothers first, but also for the gentiles. Both the historical and reflective parts of this book are witty, rich in anecdotes, easy to read, and will, hopefully, reach and touch many hearts and minds.

Avi Snyder both challenges and inspires us through his deep insight in the Scripture and by his passion for his people and world evangelism. This is a book that should be read, studied, and practiced by all of us.
