Description: Poem Collection - We hear that people should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and that privately owned establishments are the best way of ensuring that. However, for society as a whole the goals should be more far reaching. Public schools have developed organization and accountability to provide education and good opportunities for all students. Funding for the public school system should certainly be enhanced, not gutted or diverted. These poems collect impressions of teaching, and substituting in public schools for some thirty-seven years. I have always noted the vibrant aura of hope in every school hall.
