Review Quotes:
"A memorable caper that draws on its characters' plentiful historical knowledge. - Kirkus Reviews
"It's rare to see a setup that involves heroes with crossbows, "lances, a mace, some more longbows, a blunderbuss and several muskets" facing off against enemies with more standard machine guns. The pacing is well-handled, and the stakes remain high throughout the narrative." Kirkus
"Classic heist story rich with history and strained father-daughter dynamics." - BookLife
"The story's historical asides transform into thrilling action sequences that will keep readers entertained." BookLife
"If you enjoy thrillers with a touch of history, this is one to pick up..." - LibraryThing
"This book is fast-paced and it's a thriller set in the Tower of London. It's about a group of armed men who comes after a famous diamond and what follows is an intense siege mixing modern weapons with the Tower's old defenses. What I liked most was the setting. The Tower of London feels alive and adds so much atmosphere. The story also has a strong emotional side with the complicated relationship between a father and daughter, which gave the action more depth. The writing definitely felt cinematic in a way, I guess it was almost like watching a movie and it kept me hooked." LibraryThing
"In an extraordinarily researched book, we learn more about the Tower of London than any human should. Herman the Raven was a favorite character who followed the Yeoman's daughter everywhere she went. But I get ahead of myself. The tale begins in 1087s with the construction of the White Tower. The Crown Jewels were added through the years but none grander than the Koh-in-Noor, one of the world's largest diamonds. This is the gem that thieves want and their plans are well thought out. In trying to steal the Crown Jewels they take on Clive Bellamy. Chief Yeoman Warder and retired military. Clive rallies his fellow Yeomen and proceeds to attempt to take the Tower back. Being very familiar with all non modern weaponry this becomes very interesting! A good story of an estranged father-daughter combo, great bad guys and an institution which is the symbol of Great Britain." LibraryThing
"I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced and exciting read. The characters were well written and of course who wouldn't love Herman the raven. The ending is perfect and satisfying." LibraryThing
"I would really like to see this movie if it's ever made. The story follows the Chief Warder of the Tower of London who's daughter from the US is staying with him. While they try to mend their relationship, an apparent terrorist attack locks down the Tower, with only the Tower guards and medieval weaponry and their historical knowledge to defend the most important site in London."
