Brief description: JESSIE PENN-LEWIS (1861-1927) was an English evangelist and author. Evan Roberts, who was instrumental in the Welsh revival in the early 1900s, stayed with Mrs. Penn-Lewis and her husband for a time and contributed to this book. As an eyewitness to the revival, Penn-Lewis wrote War on the Saints to counter what she perceived as the excesses of the revival and the deceptions of Satan at work to prevent the true work of God in awakening. Mrs. Penn-Lewis also established and edited the periodical The Overcomer. War on the Saints is considered the authoritative textbook on spiritual warfare by many Christians.
