Description: "Originally published as "The Art of Improving a Full and Prosperous Condition, for the Glory of God," in Four Useful Discourses (London: Thomas Parkhurst, 1675)."

Brief description:

Jeremiah Burroughs (1599-1646) was loved for his preaching and his gentle spirit, yet the government persecuted him because of his nonconformity to the Church of England. Forced to flee to Rotterdam, Holland, for a time, he eventually returned to England and preached to congregations in Stepney and Cripplegate in London, two of the largest in England.

Review Quotes:

"Writing with deep pastoral conviction and keen theological precision, Jeremiah Burroughs proves a safe and sure guide into the important subject of contentment--what it means to delight in God's fatherly disposal in every condition. Wonderfully edited by Phillip Simpson, Contentment, Prosperity, and God's Glory is a certain blessing for all who seek to find their satisfaction in God's unsearchable riches." --J. Stephen Yuille
