Descriptions, Reviews, etc.

Description: The authors of this book approach their theme with the conviction that "the gift of the Spirit to indwell God's people, corporately and individually, is the supreme and crowning blessing held forth by the Gospel." Yet as they frankly acknowledge, the doctrine of the Spirit is tragically neglected by the Church.

Brief description: James Innell Packer (born 22 July 1926), usually cited as J. I. Packer, is a British-born Canadian Christian theologian in the low-church Anglican and Calvinist traditions. He currently serves as the Board of Governors' Professor of Theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia. He is considered one of the most influential evangelicals in North America. He has been the theologian emeritus of the Anglican Church in North America since its inception in 2009.

Review Quotes:

"This is vintage Packer and as an added bonus he has teamed up with another superb author, Alan Stibbs, on a subject that is still of vital concern: the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Here we find a balanced and biblical discussion of what is the greatest gift God has given us, namely the indwelling Spirit, whose inhabitation was purchased through the Lord Jesus' bitter death and glorious resurrection. Time has only increased the value of this small classic, thankfully now coming back in print." - Michael A G Haykin, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY
