Descriptions, Reviews, etc.

Description: Located in the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the east coast of Canda, Prince Edward Island measures only 5,660 sq.km. But what this island province lacks in size, it more than makes up for in abundant natural beauty, as well the scope of its influence on Candian history. Combing poetry with informational text, PEI Poet Laureate Hugh MacDonald pays homage to the province's natural splendors and proud history. Readers young and old can visit the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery of Anne of Green Gables fame, stroll the streets of historic Charlottetown, or paddle a kayak down the island's nearly 100 named rivers.

Brief description: Poet, editor, and novelist Hugh MacDonald is a former poet laureate for Prince Edward Island. He is perhaps best known to Islanders as the PEI representative for Random Acts of Poetry, which has brought poetry to the streets and workplaces across Canada. A retired teacher, Mr. MacDonald is a full-time writer. His children's books include Crosby and Me and Chung Lee Loves Lobsters, which won the L.M. Montgomery Children's Literature Award. In 2004 he was presented with the Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Literary Arts on Prince Edward Island.
