Brief description: Marcus Pfister was born in Bern, Switzerland. After studying at art school in Bern, he trained as a graphic artist. His first picture book was published by NordSüd in 1986, but his breakthrough as author and illustrator came in 1992 with the publication of The Rainbow Fish. Since then, he has published more than sixty books, which have been translated into about sixty-five languages and have won many international awards. He lives with his family in Bern.

Review Quotes: "Rainbow Fish's multicolored scales -- which include bits of silver holographic foil, a shiny touch sure to dazzle young readers -- are coveted by the rest of the fish in the reef, who shun him when he callously refuses to give just one to a little blue fish. A visit to a wise octopus helps him learn that while being the most beautiful fish in the ocean might be nice, it's far nicer to share the good things in life with friends."-- "The New York Times, 52 Great Books for Toddlers"
