Description:

This book is a fascinating blend of historical fact and narrative fiction about the life of the prophet Isaiah--from the rise and fall of kingdoms to the everyday life details and conversations as God's messenger to Judah.

Brief description: After graduating from Andrews University, Virginia Smith married Pastor Calvin L Smith. While her husband often traveled in mission service, Virginia earned two master's degrees and later a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Along the way, she added Bible study to her other enthusiasms. She was director of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventist's Children's Ministries Department for thirteen years, holding seminars in 73 countries. She desires to write biographies of the major Old Testament prophets to help young people see they were as real as we are. She and Calvin are retired at Asia-Pacific International University in Thailand.

Review Quotes:

"You will never think about Isaiah in the same way after reading Dr. Virginia Smith's book on his life and ministry. Be prepared for a creative and enlightening read that brings the ancient prophet vividly to life. Virginia has, in a sense, walked and lived with Isaiah for several years. And that familiarity shows up in the book. Happy reading." --George R. Knight, Professor Emeritus of Church History, Andrews University

This book gives interesting and surprising details on the history of Isaiah and his family. The side-characters' point of view is given clearly, and there were no hard words I did not understand. The detailed information on the timeline was helpful. I was able to relate to parts of the book, and it expanded my imagination, so I want to study more in the Bible. This is a must read book about Isaiah." --Michaela Yonathan, 12-years old

"This book took me to new heights of my love for prophetic books-a perfect book for teens and young adults." --Dr. Kham Khan Khai, Lecturer, Asia-Pacific International University
