Description: "Liliom" is play by Hungarian dramatist Ferenc Molnár, first performed in 1909. The play is set in Budapest, Hungary, and in a fictional waiting area just outside of Heaven. Liliom is a cocky carousel worker who falls in love with Julie, a maid. However, when they both lose their jobs, their relationship is tested to the limit. Ferenc Molnár (1878 - 1952) was a Hungarian-born playwright and novelist who adopted American citizenship to escape persecution during World War II.
