She is the founder of Tiny Signs(R), an award-winning baby sign language program. As a licensed social worker, Lane worked for many years with families in the Boston area. At the beginning of the book, there is an introduction explaining what age is appropriate to begin introducing the signs to your child, while reminding the reader that each child is different and will learn at different paces. The ASL Alphabet is also included for a nice reference. The book includes 100 signs that would be helpful for teaching babies who can't communicate verbally yet. Words such as milk, more, all done, mom, dad, and many more. The illustrations throughout are bright, colorful, and age-appropriate for children. There is a description of each sign, along with an illustration of what it looks like. Each page includes the word, an illustration of the word for babies to look at, a description of how to make the sign, and a picture of the sign being signed. All the words are in alphabetical order, which makes it extremely easy to reference when looking up a word.
