Description: The Scottish Wars of Independence are often celebrated for the heroic deeds of men, but behind the scenes, noblewomen played an equally pivotal role in shaping the nation's fate.

Brief description: Beth Reid is a passionate historian specialising in medieval Scotland, with a particular focus on the experiences of women during the Scottish Wars of Independence. She holds a First Class BA (Hons) in Scottish History from the University of Stirling, where she concentrated on the pivotal figures of fourteenth-century Scotland. Currently, she is completing her Master of Research (MRes) in Historical Research, investigating the lives and careers of noblewomen in this turbulent period.

Beyond her academic work, Beth is an active voice in the modern Scottish independence movement and is involved with groups like Women for Independence, which seeks to enhance the representation of women in public and political life across Scotland.
