Description: A collection of down-home pre-Depression poems from the heartland of Iowa and Missouri. Included are rhymes telling of the earliest days of powered flight, the first broadcast of baseball on the radio, Zepplins, the Zephyr streamlined train.

Brief description: My great grandfather, E. L. Sawyer was born in 1874 in Creston, Iowa and lived his engtire life in southern Iowa and northern Missouri. He was a railroad man until he lost an arm in 1904, then a small businessman until the depression. His passion was writing "rhymes" about the world around him. His poems are a window on his long-gone times.
