Description: Lynn Hoggard's poems and stories richly evoke mid-20th-century south Louisiana-a soft, rural, small-town world not so far away in years, yet lost now in the dust of galloping development. Motherland is a hymn to that region's sweet, watery earth, its people and customs, and the author's deep, vivid memories. This book is a treasure.
