Description: In the 1880s Federico Villalba left old San Gerónimo (Aldama, Chihuahua) and began ranching near the village of San Carlos, about fifteen miles south of the Lajitas ford of the Rio Grande. Villalba prospered and eventually crossed the international boundary to settle and ranch in Burro Mesa.

Review Quotes:

"If ever there has been family history recounted through a tale of genuine adventure, this is it. While sometimes heart-rendering, often romantic, and ever ringing of truth, Federico Villalba's Texas is a major contribution to the history of the Big Bend of Texas as well as that of La Frontera de Chihuahua." --Glenn Willeford, Author and Historian
