Brief description: St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) was a Carmelite nun, reformer, theologian, mystic, and author of many essential spiritual classics of the Catholic tradition, including The Interior Castle and The Way of Perfection. She was canonized in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV and Pope Paul VI named her a Doctor of the Church in 1970.
