Description: Hundreds of old weighing scales are studied, each for specific purposes: diamonds, eggs, martinis, toys, golf clubs, etc., including coin-operated, all with current values. From large iron scales in a general store to beautiful silver scales, the field is enormous and fascinating.
Brief description: Bill and Jan Berning met in 1991 at a convention of the International Society of Antique Scale Collectors in Chicago in 1993. The couple purchased an old opera house in Genoa, Illinois, to house their collection which numbers over 1200 scales.
