Review Quotes: "China's modernization has presented multiple puzzles and daunting challenges for scholars and policy makers. By critically examining contending perspectives on China's complex and rapidly changing landscape, the authors provide insights into the intense debates on China's political, economic, and social transitions. This book will help readers better understand the multiple dimensions of such transitions, including property rights and rent-seeking politics, discourse on social democracy, human rights and religious policies, and the transformation of welfare regime." --Guoli Liu, College of Charleston
