Series: Enzymes for Biomedical and Industrial Applications

Descriptions, Reviews, etc.

Description: Enzymatic Treatment of Biomass for Energy: Thermochemical Methods provides a comprehensive analysis of how enzymatic pretreatment can optimize thermochemical biomass conversion processes such as pyrolysis, gasification, and torrefaction. The book addresses the challenges of biomass recalcitrance by exploring enzyme functions that enhance thermal degradation efficiency and bioenergy yield, supporting sustainable energy goals. It covers the fundamentals of biomass composition, enzymatic and combined pretreatment strategies, and detailed enzyme-assisted thermochemical pathways.

The book further discusses practical considerations for industrial deployment, including scalability, techno-economic analysis, and circular economy perspectives. Optimization methods such as response surface methodology are also elaborated to guide process improvements. This volume is a valuable resource for researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers seeking to integrate enzymatic technologies into thermochemical bioenergy systems.

Brief description: Dr. Pal is currently working as an Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur-208002, Uttar Pradesh India. He has received his M. Tech in 2011 and Ph.D. in 2017, in the field of Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Before that, he has completed his B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from UPTU, Lucknow in 2006. Dr Pal completed doctorate degree in the field of nanotechnology and catalysis. These nanofibers have very promising potential to provide benefits to nanotechnologies, energy, environment, catalysts, sensors etc. While pursuing research he published 81 articles in the international referred journals, six books, and thirty book chapters. Dr. Pal's research interest is nano-technology, catalysis, energy and environment and waste management with a special focus in developing process and materials by using waste as raw materials. He also prefers to work on bio-waste processing and value addition.
